What is Riverlation

The Riverland Wine & Food Festival (RWFF) is an annual tradition in the Riverland region of (South Australia) offering an opportunity to showcase the region’s food, wine & produce and bring the community together. It is a highlight of the South Australian events calendar and attracts local, intrastate, interstate and international visitors.
A new event format was introduced in 2020 and despite challenging circumstances, event organisers determined that ‘the show must go on’. The new format provided a more diverse experience resulted in the event program extending over 3 days & involving 15 local businesses and more than 30 events showcasing the beautiful Riverland region at its best – at a time when many other events were cancelled or postponed.

In 2021 the event has undertaken a rebrand to ensure that the Riverland Wine community and Riverland townships can all join in to celebrate what the Riverland has to offer. The new name comes from the word revelation, and the idea that the Riverland is something different from other regions. We want to open peoples eyes to the quality and diversity of our wines and our spectacular scenery.

Participants can create their own itinerary to suit their taste, interest and budget, and participate in a variety of events across the weekend. Visitors are invited to traverse the region to visit cellar doors, hospitality and accommodation venues and build upon our region’s identity as a food & wine tourism destination.

The Riverland Region

The Riverland wine region stretches between the bends of the mighty Murray River and the vast edge of the Great Australian Outback. Its unique location and ideal climate gives rise to a viticultural masterpiece that is reflected in the diversity and quality of the wine offering it capably produces year on year. As old as its star filled skies, its colourful past now resonates loudly in the modern and cutting edge wine powerhouse it is today. In amongst this stand the colourful and highly skilled people that call this magical place home. Those who tend its soils, and capture its essence in a true representation of its remarkable terroir.

The Riverland in South Australia is a long-established, warm climate wine-producing region, located east of the Barossa Valley, extending for 330 meandering kilometres along the Murray River. It is the largest Australian wine region by size, number of growers, volume of crush, and wine grape varieties. As such it is incredibly important to the Australian wine industry in terms of scale, economic contribution, diversity, export value, technology and structural change, and innovation.
